A huge vote of thanks to the Marshals for giving up a beautiful evening for the benefit of everyone else. Thanks Andrew, Glenda, Jenny, Mel, John, Matt and Jeff. Special thanks to Mick for helping me sort out the results after an IT glitch. The full splits will appear eventually, but may take some time due to checking details and forthcoming holidays etc.

If you're new to open water swimming, a whole new world of fun - and mild wetsuit rash - awaits. To give you a head start from the dry comfort of your laptop, here are some cracking tips from 6 time Ironman champion Dave Scott. He knows a thing or two about slicing through the water.

Inspirational, horrifying and mightily comical in equal parts, this is the end of the 1997 World Ironman Triathlon championships in Hawaii. Sian Welch and Windy Ingram after swimming 2.4 miles, cycling 112 miles and finally putting in a marathon, are probably entitled to feel a little bit wobbly. I'm not sure I've seen two people so clearly locked in mortal combat during an endurance event. Fair play to 'em - they earned their slap up nosh in the post event sports village (After Ironman Switzerland I shunned the spaghetti bolognaise and bran muffins in favour of a king size Bratwurst and half a litre of lager outside. It was far more fitting for a Les Croups triathlete).

As Andrew Sedgemond, Denis Murphy, Julie Scholey and I will vouch, the finish line at an Ironman is a highly welcome sight. Fortunately, none of us had to duke it out on all fours in front of the sporting media.

Please note - this in NO WAYrepresents the end of a Llandow Duathlon. A mere 1 hour or so of exercise, followed by the welcome sight of the campervan and a bunch of friendly faces, it is quite unlikely that you will be video'd crawling across the line and uploaded to Youtube for all to see (and it's cheap, local, safe and with wonderful sea views).

Triathlon for everyone

Just to prove that there is a form of triathlon for everyone - or at least everyone with a PC - I found this image which I feel our editor would approve of.
Well done everyone! A sunny evening with matching temperaments. I hope you enjoyed the race as much as we enjoyed putting it on. Hope to see you next month.

Track riding for beginners (and not so beginners)

Andrew Russell has kindly agreed to arrange and coach another cycling session at the Velodrome. The first was absolutely fantastic and I feel very sure that most will want to return (time permitting). Expect 2 hours of fun and trying unsuccessfully to emulate the great Sir Chris Hoy. Keep your eyes peeled on the forum pages for updates and costs.

Be warned - dodgy cycling garb may be used and people of a senstive nature are advised to protect themselves with sun glasses.

Well we are pleased to announce that the Duathlons are back in 2010, bigger and better than ever. Some dates for your diary:

Wed 12th May
Wed 16th June
Wed 7th July

All events are a 7.30pm start.

Pack your lycra, an extra layer of warm clothing, a survival blanket and a tenner (£13 for non-BTA members) and we'll see you at the number one sports event of the year. If you're keen to help; fantastic, we are always looking for marshals and very grateful when we find them. Click here for further details.

I bet you've not looked at this for a bit, largely 'cos there was nothing new to look at. I guess there's only so much old stuff you can look at. Due to the persistent and relentless efforts of some of our more Terminator-like members (you know who you are), we are back up and running/cycling/swimming.

Pick our brains, organise sessions, enter races, experience the fun and pain of multisport. It's all here for a fiver on top of your already paltry Les Croups membership fees. It's got to be worth that!
